In a major boost to women-led businesses, the MSME Ministry has rolled out a 20% capital subsidy scheme for female entrepreneurs across Maharashtra, including Nagpur. Under this scheme, women who start manufacturing or service-based MSMEs will receive financial support for machinery, technology, and infrastructure setup.

The initiative is part of the Women Empowerment in Enterprise (WEE) program, which aims to enhance women’s participation in business and promote inclusive growth. Eligible business owners can apply through the Udyam Registration Portal by submitting business plans and project reports.

Nagpur’s District Industries Centre (DIC) has set up a special cell to guide applicants through the process.

“We want more women from Vidarbha to step into leadership roles — not just as participants, but as founders,” said DIC Officer Priya Nandekar.

The scheme also includes mentorship sessions, digital skill training, and access to government procurement networks. Over 200 Nagpur-based women entrepreneurs have already expressed interest in applying this year.
