How ‘EcoFly’ Is Turning Plastic Waste into Sustainable Building Bricks

Nagpur-based startup EcoFly Innovations is redefining how the city thinks about waste management. Founded by two engineering graduates from VNIT, the company transforms discarded plastic into durable, eco-friendly construction bricks. These recycled bricks are stronger than conventional clay bricks and cost nearly 30% less, making them both affordable and sustainable.

EcoFly started in a small garage setup in Hingna but now supplies to builders and NGOs across central India. The startup’s mission is clear — to create a greener Nagpur by reducing landfill waste and offering sustainable alternatives in construction. With growing urban development in the city, EcoFly’s innovation has caught the attention of both government agencies and private investors.

The founders plan to expand production capacity in 2025 and explore partnerships with MIDC and CSR projects for large-scale implementation. EcoFly has already recycled over 50 tons of plastic waste this year, proving that local innovation can drive global change.

“We want to build a cleaner city, one brick at a time,” says co-founder Rohit Patil.
