Iconic brand Haldiram’s, synonymous with Nagpur pride, has taken a big leap toward sustainability. The company recently inaugurated a solar-powered manufacturing unit at its Butibori facility, marking its commitment to clean energy and green production.

The new 2-megawatt rooftop solar system will meet over 60% of the plant’s electricity needs, significantly reducing its carbon footprint. According to Haldiram’s sustainability report, this initiative will offset nearly 1,800 tons of CO₂ emissions per year.

Operations Director Ashish Agarwal mentioned that the move aligns with the brand’s broader environmental vision. “As a Nagpur-born company, we want to lead by example — sustainability is not an option, it’s our responsibility,” he said.

The Butibori unit produces a range of packaged snacks, sweets, and frozen foods for domestic and export markets. Haldiram’s plans to replicate the solar model across all its major plants by 2026.

With this milestone, Nagpur solidifies its reputation as an industrial hub that balances growth with green innovation.
